On a pleasant sunny day I found my way down to one of the only remaining preserved wetlands in Louisiana, Honey Island Swamp. Known for spotting's of alligators, raccoons, owls, wild boars, snakes, turtles, even black bears! This Cajun village is only accessible by boat, guided by those New Orleanians, most who have lived off of the water all of their lives. My guided Capt Gary, gave great commentary, good jokes too. and then there was 'BJ'... The shots were captured up close and personal by non other than our resident photographer Ryan Kaspar of ryankasparphotography. Such a courageous act on his behalf, do you see those teeth?!?! Despite his 'game face' he was very welcoming as he ate several marshmallows feed to him as bait by our captain. Here you can see what the moniker 'BJ' is about, Broke Jaw...Per Capt' Gary BJ got into an alligator brawl with another gator of his size sometime ago...the altercation resulted in a hole in his jaw, when he is fed the food must be placed at the far back of his throat to prevent it from falling out of his mouth hence the name "BROKE JAW"! Its safe to say I really enjoyed this experience...for more info about this adventure click this link Cajun Encounters Tours. Enjoy!
